My project NA Z32

Postby mungyz » Sun Jun 28, 2009 9:55 pm

I got this POS for $500 - I will let the pictures do the talking, all done by me at home in the garage :

The photos actually make it look good, in person it was almost not worth trying to fix.

Is it a fix and sell job, or a keeper?

It's a fix, use for the big track event later this year, then sell hopefully - although my wife has taken a liking to it so the Prelude may go and this may stay.

Has had a full engine rebuild, manual conversion and all the other guff you can see. I will need to build a full new exh system as I chucked the other crap out  it should go like a cut cat as I gave the heads a good seeing to in the ports etc & also gave the exh manifolds a bit of a tidy up. It should make around 250hp at the flywheel (I hope)

Don't sell it Glenn... there's talk of a budget race series being developed with a max purchase price of $500, conveniently. So hold onto it for no other reason than to give me the opportunity to carve you up in a P10 :D

Surely there is a cap on spending though? This car will owe me over six grand in the end BUT it will have brand new paint, rebuilt engine, 97 spec manual box, brand new exh, etc etc etc should go OK & will be in far better nick than most around at six - seven grand. :)

Hmmm a P10 striped out for racing could very well make this Zed look slow .... maybe I will go find a TT one for $500 and fix that

HEY!! what's this quoting me saying I'm insane!? ahhh oh well I did say it I guess

But only slightly...

I don't know what the details are of the race series, probably because they haven't been worked out yet. Hopefully Bazza will return and let us know what the go is :D

Project is coming along nicely. That tone of red is gorgeous too. Will she have the Mungy silver wing mirrors? So how many Zeds have you owned now, is this number 4?

Had one 2+2 na manual in red
one tt manual two seater in silver then yellow
one na manual two seater in silver then blue & TT conversion
This one is na 2+2 auto in silver slowly turning red(ish) & manual

Had one that was bought for parts & was dispersed in the space of one weekend

There are a few around that are my problem when they break but I don't own them

The poor blue one is waiting for some more of my time, as far as I know there is nothing wrong with it apart from the WOF expired the other day.
Not to worried about the WOF as I'm not using it at the moment so will get one sorted in a mth or so.

If you are talking about the red zed well that has been put on hold for now - reminds me I need to give someone a call....
