SR20DE Spark Plug

SR20DE Spark Plug

Postby lost_souljer » Wed Jul 28, 2010 9:22 am

Brief background - Had a service done a few months ago now, diff and gearbox oil, spark plugs and one of those fuel flush bottles. Since then im getting about 1-1.5k per ltr less than what i was getting before the service  I waited for 3 tanks of gas to go through just to make sure that the flush was out and in case i got a bad batch of fuel but it's still not as economical as before. What plugs are the best for a S14 SR20DE? (more for economical driving right now) I dont have the old ones to find out what model they were since i got the shop to change them after i broke one of those el cheapo sparkplug tools trying to undo the last plug

Spark plugs won't cause the milage reduction.

What could be causing the low economy is the oil they used. A lot of service stations just use a one size fits all generic 15w40 engine oil for general servicing. This type of oil is designed for older cars and comercial diesel vehicles. Using a high end synthetic 10w30 or 5w30 can make a big differance to overall fuel economy.

Thanks, but i didnt get them to change the engine oil, i put some castrol GTX in it a bit before but thats the same stuff i normally use. Hmm ok might be time to try a new oil see if that helps. It does seem to be either running a bit richer or burning a tiny amout of oil judging from the stains that im starting to get on the rear bumper though. I might do a AFM clean this weekend, any other tips?

Cheers
