Nissanz Birthday Week - FEB 09

Postby Heretic » Sun Apr 13, 2008 10:19 pm

A bit far away, but should start getting ideas on what to do

Heres my idea - circumnavigate the north island - ok, so its a big drive, but why not take a week out to do it!
Day 1 - Raglan to New Plymouth: 269km
Day 2 - New Plymouth to Upper Hutt: 349km
Day 3 - Upper Hutt to Napier: 296km
Day 4 - Napier to Gisborne: 214km
Day 5 - Gisborne to Papamoa: 263km
Day 6 - Papamoa to Coromandel: 226km
Day 7 - Coromandel to Raglan: 188km

Just an idea!

You missed northland :P

I would definatly be keen for that. Would need a lot of planning (and saving! )

1805Km = $320 in gas (if you drive a pulsar )
6 nights accomodation = $200 (backpakers ect)
Food = $100
Entertainment = $150ish (I expect we will do more than just driving)

Thats almost $800/person for the week

Would be a wicked week though!

Ok, i admit it, its not going to be cheap, but its a great way to see the country. If we all do the backpacker thing, that will no doubt save us money, and they all have washing machines so we can travel light. 8)
As for northland ... that means dealing with auckland traffic - not a nice way to spend 2 hours each way, and we see it enough on the news! Notice how no one has noticed we're avoiding wellington too
