Wingroad ZV (SR20VE) Cluster Wiring

Postby Out Of Sight » Sun Oct 05, 2008 2:58 am

Hello guys!

I really need any help I can get about this.
I got this beauty but it's devastating hard to use it with blind eyes...

I was given this information for the cluster but it's obviously wrong. Maybe some other Wingroad is using it.

I kept asking for the correct information but that was the official answer. The cost for the set of 8 electric manual books was outrageous.

I shed lots of swept blood and tears to make the following happen.
ZV cluster is using three plugs.
Plug 1 White: Pin 1 to pin 24 ( 6 pins, then 5 and 13 pins on the bottom)
Plug 2 Brown: Pin 25 to pin 44 (5 pins then 4 and 11 pins on the bottom)
Plug 3 Brown: Pin 45 to pin 68 (6 pins then 5 and 13 pins on the bottom)

This is what they look like
Image

these are my findings after many tryouts

Pin 10: ABS or B.Fluid
Pin 9: Hand Brake
Pin 7: Door Switch
Pin 16: Tachometer
Pin 17: Bat(+) OR IGNITION (I didn't used it at the end)
Pin 18: WATER (I have noted but don't remember)

Pin 25: Left Turn
Pin 28: AIR BAG (probably)
Pin 29: Right Turn
Pin 30: Hazard Switch

Pin 36: P light
Pin 37: R light
Pin 38: N light
Pin 40: L light

Pin 45: Check engine
Pin 46: CVT
Pin 47: Glow light (not connected)
Pin 48: PTT light
Pin 59: GND with Pin 63
Pin 62: BAT (+) (I put it there)
Pin 63: GND with Pin 59
Pin 66: IGNITION
Pin 67: Oil Pressure switch
Pin 68: Charge battery indicator

If you put 12V on pin 64 or 65 you get the cluster lighting on but it does not work properly using the car switch. The cluster somehow needs to grounded somewhere cause many indicators turn on.

I managed to make the cluster smoke two times trying to make it lit.
After the first time when I put back my stock cluster I didn't have tacho signal anymore... I still don't on either and wiring is verified. Datascan reads rpm through ECU.

I never managed to find the speed and fuel pins on the zv cluster.

I would really appreciate your help...

Dont know that there would be many peeps playing with wingroad's here, seems like you have a real challenge on your hands. Some parts of the cluster may be driven by other units in the car that are not the same as yours.

It seems you've done a lot of trial and error / logic work already, Nissan JDM manuals are a pain. Good luck!

I have to place something on my dash.

R33 needs some modification besides tach adapter

Nice work.
So you've got the whole SR20VE setup or just the gauges?

I've got a diesel Y11 which doesn't even have a tacho, I'd like to fix that and it's gotta be easier than what you've just done.

Thanks man!
No I ride on a SR16VE.N1 engine and used these gauges to have a more accurate reading.
Unfortunately all these days trying pins on the dark I managed to cook my ecu tacho circuit. It seems unrepairable besides the blown capacitor there are some fried lines inside the board.

I've used this little device to fix my ecu tacho issue.
Image
All it needed was to get signal from distributor or coil. I used the tacho output signal wire of my distributor. The adapter was set for low voltage tacho output using the dip switches and with the up/down buttons you calibrate the engine cylinders so that is accurate. The adapter produces signal also on the other output exits depending on dip switches settings. This could be usefull to some who use several rpm calibrated devices.
I've made a video if you'd like to see the new cluster in action.

Dakota Digital has some interesting adapters including for diesel engines.

Re: Wingroad ZV (SR20VE) Cluster Wiring

I find myself in a similar situation.
I have a wingroad cluster with a tacho, it's similar to the SR20VE one above, but has no gear selection indicators etc.
It'll be going in my diesel Y11.

My questions are:
What sort of tacho signal does the average nissan use? 4 pulses per rev, 2 pulses per rev?
Does anyone in NZ recalibrate odometers legally? I haven't powered up the new cluster but it's supposed to have about 40,000km more than my current one. I'm not paying RUC on 40,000km I didn't drive.

This thread has been a gold mine. :D
